Urban education has been my passion for the last fifteen years. I have worked in various capacities to improve the learning environment in urban schools, including as an elementary school principal and as the Director of Talent Development in the Oakland Unified School District. I currently serve as the Associate Superintendent for Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction in OUSD. I work collaboratively with my staff to unearth and eliminate inequitable structures that impede student learning. As a LEEP doctoral candidate, I am interested in examining the role school and district leaders play in designing and implementing school reform initiatives. After departing LEEP, I hope to expand my educational leadership pursuits at the district level.
